# Sync results to a reference manager

**Outcome:** search results land in Zotero, Mendeley, or EndNote as proper references.

## Approach

Export a search to BibTeX or RIS, or format entries individually with
citations when you need a specific style.

## Walkthrough

1. `POST /v1/searches/{id}/export` with `format: "bibtex"` (or `ris`)
2. Download the resulting File before the URL expires
3. Import, or push via the target tool's own API

## Handling the hard parts

- Deduplicate against the user's existing library by DOI
- Preserve the SciSpace paper ID in a custom field so you can round-trip later
- Papers without a DOI need a stable fallback key
